From Vision to Reality

My Role in Shaping MithraDirect

As UX Manager for MithraDirect, my role was to translate the initial vision of connecting local vendors with customers into a user-friendly and efficient mobile app. This involved overseeing the entire UX process, from initial research and strategy to design execution and testing. I focused on ensuring the app met the needs of both vendors and customers, while adhering to our core principle: Shop Local, Support Local, Grow Together.

Mapping the Customer Journey

A Visual Strategy

My first task was to get a clear picture of the customer journey. From needing to buy milk to booking a car wash, I mapped out each step. It was clear we needed something clean and simple. From the PDF, you can see the app is very straightforward from splash screen to OTP verification.

Building Blocks

Key Design Decisions

Here's a look at the key design decisions I oversaw:

First Impressions: Streamlining Onboarding

We made onboarding as frictionless as possible. The PDF shows a two-step process: Mobile Number → OTP. My decision to minimize steps was driven by the need to reduce drop-off rates. We also included a Change Mobile Number option directly on the OTP screen, addressing a potential user frustration early on.

Location, Location, Location: Pinpointing Delivery

Accurate address selection was crucial. Instead of relying solely on text input, I pushed for a map-based location selector (as seen in the PDF) that allowed users to Move pin to your exact location. This minimized ambiguity and ensured accurate deliveries.

Core Navigation: Guiding the User

I designed the bottom navigation with five key sections: Home, Vendors, Subscriptions, Profile. This provided quick access to the app's core features. The Home screen became a dynamic space for discovering vendors and offers.

Vendor Discovery

Highlighting Local Gems

The Vendors screen needed to be more than just a directory. I implemented category filters (All, Auto Mobile, Groceries) and a search bar to help users quickly find what they needed. I also included language options in the page like English, हिंदी, తెలుగు to increase accessibility.

Subscriptions Made Simple

Subscription management was a key area of focus. The goal was to make it easy to set up, customize, and manage subscriptions.

Product Pages:

I ensured product pages like the one for Buffelow Milk - 1Ltr clearly displayed pricing, descriptions, and subscription options.

Subscription Options:

I guided the design to give users different subscription types (ONE TIME, DAILY, CUSTOM). The CUSTOM option allowed users to select specific delivery days, offering maximum flexibility.

Empowering Vendors

A Digital Shopfront

I wanted to provide vendors with a platform to showcase their offerings. Vendor pages included product listings, descriptions, and the option to display discounts. This gave local businesses like Mirdoddi Farm a digital presence and helped them reach a wider audience.

Results and Reflections

Measuring Success

MithraDirect has successfully connected local vendors with customers. The positive user feedback and growing adoption rates are a testament to the success of our design approach.

Looking Ahead:

We're committed to continuous improvement. Future plans include:

  • Expanding the vendor network.
  • Adding more personalization options.
  • Exploring new subscription models.
  • Further optimizing the user experience based on data and feedback.

MithraDirect isn't just an app; it's a platform for building a stronger, more connected community. As UX Manager, I'm proud to have played a role in bringing this vision to life.
